Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance

This model ordinance was developed by DWR in accordance with AB 1881.

A Guide to Estimating Irrigation Water Needs of Landscape Plantings in California (WUCOLS) 

This publication includes two important tools for estimation irrigation water needs. The first section of this guide details the Landscape Coefficient Method, a method of estimating irrigation needs of landscape plantings in California. Part two presents WUCOLS III (Water Use Classification of Landscape Species), a list intended to help landscape professionals identify irrigation water needs of landscape species.

California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS) 

This website "helps agricultural growers and turf managers administering parks, golf courses and other landscapes to develop water budgets for determining when to irrigate and how much water to apply." Site users can retrieve hourly, daily, monthly and historical data over an extended period of time; get ETo values; and access links to important information related to irrigation.

A guidebook prepared by the California Department of Water Resources to assist water suppliers, cities, and counties in integrating water and land use planning.

These Excel spreadsheets are used by the California Department of Water Resources staff to review the Demand Management Measures of water supplier Urban Water Management Plans.

Summary of 2000 Urban Water Management Plans 

According to the Urban Water Management Planning Act, all urban water suppliers having more than 3,000 connections or supplying more than 3,000 acre feet of water must submit Urban Water Management Plans to the Department of Resources (DWR) every five years. This report summarizes the outstanding elements of the individual 2000 Plans reviewed by DWR and lists the Plan submittal status of the specified urban water suppliers.
